What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to the feet and hands utilizing specific thumb, finger and hand techniques with the use of oil, cream or lotion based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work effects a physical change in the body.

Reflexology is a compression/release technique that when done correctly, induces an extreme relaxation response. It's based on the premise that there are corresponding nerve endings in 10 energy zones of the body, running from the head to the feet. The zones correspond to all of the glands, organs and systems of the body.

Reflexology normalizes the body's functions, helps to break down tension, alleviate stress, anxiety, pain, including headaches and improves nerve function and blood supply throughout the body. Reflexology can be done on the hands. But for maximum benefit, it is applied to the feet because it is consider being the roots of our being. Using the thumb, finger and hand, practitioners apply specific pressure to the minute reflex points. When the body has been damaged by illness, injury, disease or stress, it will attempt to regain its natural equilibrium. You don't have to believe in reflexology for it to do you some good. It's a physical and neurological response. Research studies from around the world have proved that reflexology is profoundly effective in either curing or greatly alleviating health problems as diverse as:
